The Mechanism of Seeing is a site-specific installation that consists of a column-like aluminum sculpture assembled from identical stacked parts. The stacking creates an alternating pattern of solids and voids that shift in perspective as one moves around the work. A mirror-polished interior enhances the visual effect by reflecting and refracting the environment and the viewer. The resulting perceptual experience brings a heightened sense of awareness to light, and to the fundamental act of seeing.
